Your grand expedition begins with a scenic drive to the western side of the mountain at Londorossi Gate for registration, before heading to the trailhead to step directly into the ancient, untouched montane forest ecosystem. You will navigate a quiet, winding trail under a dense canopy of lush trees where exotic birds and black-and-white colobus monkeys thrive, enjoying a peaceful introductory hike before settling down for your first night at the Mto Mkubwa camp.

Leaving the forest canopy behind this morning, you will tackle a steeper, more open trail that transitions rapidly into the striking heather and moorland zone. This is a foundational, challenging acclimatization day utilizing the critical "climb high, sleep low" strategy to prepare your body for the thinner air ahead. Afterward, you will descend into the giant-senecio-filled Barranco Valley to sleep at Barranco Camp.
